The BMW M3 Sedan is a puristic sports saloon with outstanding driving characteristics. Responsible for this are a 480-hp high-performance BMW M TwinPower Turbo power unit, rear-wheel drive and highly developed technologies with their origins in motorsport, such as the M specific suspension with Active M Differential. A perfectly incremented manual 6-speed M transmission with short, precise gear changes facilitates an especially intensive interaction between driver and vehicle. The BMW M TwinPower Turbo inline 6-cylinder petrol engine features superior power delivery and the striking characteristic M engine sound. Two mono-scroll turbochargers, direct High-Precision Injection, fully variable valve control and variable camshaft control ensure outstanding performance.
Manual M transmission and rear-wheel drive.
The manual 6-speed M transmission allows for particularly sporty driving characteristics. It is smooth running, perfectly graduated and features precise, short-throw gearshift. The engine's characteristics can be perfectly utilised in terms of power delivery and efficiency by using the most suitable gear. Perfect for track day – with rear-wheel drive, the vehicle becomes a thoroughbred sports car when DSC is switched off. Thanks to power transmission exclusively to the rear wheels, the vehicle conveys even more emotion at the limit.
M specific suspension.
The M specific suspension combines consistent lightweight construction with particularly high rigidity, optimised suspension geometry with a wide track and active M differential. Precise response characteristics and feedback from the steering and suspension ensure perfect vehicle control. With the M setup you can adjust the characteristics as required.
M Compound brake, Red high-gloss.
Thanks to the use of various materials, M Compound brakes achieve outstanding deceleration values, are extremely stable and weigh less. The brake calipers in Red high-gloss with M lettering lend this high-performance brake system a distinctly sporty appearance.
M Carbon ceramic brake.
The M Carbon ceramic brake delivers braking power more directly. It contributes to a lower vehicle weight, which has a positive impact on agility, dynamics and acceleration. The technical equipment is visible through carbon-ceramic brake discs and calipers in the colour Gold matt with M lettering on the front and rear axle on the outside. Due to specific material properties, increased operating noise may occur during braking, e.g. in case of prolonged, low load or in wet conditions shortly before vehicle standstill. The design-related noise can be avoided by braking the brake dry in case of wetness or loading the brake more heavily after a long, low braking load. The influence of wetness and road salt cause brake effectiveness to correspond to that of a conventional brake system. This reduced braking power can be compensated for with a greater pressure on the pedal. The functional noises have no influence on the performance, operational safety and stability of the brake.
Wheel housings front.
The extremely muscular wheel housings of the BMW M3 Sedan are visual proof of the vehicle’s motor racing genes. They create an appropriate setting for the large precisely designed M light alloy wheels in Bicolour Black and accentuate the broad stance of the sports saloon.
M Side Gills.

The exterior mirrors in M typical double-bridged design with aspherical lenses are electrically adjustable as well as heatable. The mirror foot is optically integrated into the side window slot and supports the elegant, sporty design of the vehicle.

Tailpipe finishers in Chrome.
The two pairs of twin tailpipes of the BMW M3 Sedan can be clearly seen to protrude from the diffuser in high-gloss black. At the same time, elegant chrome finishers together with the distinctive louvres on the diffuser create a sporty conclusion towards the road.
M Sport seats.
The multi-adjustable M Sport seats with bucket seat character and partly integrated headrest provide excellent lateral support for you and your front passenger. BMW M TwinPower Turbo 6-cylinder engines.
The M340i xDrive is powered by a three-litre inline 6-cylinder petrol engine with BMW M TwinPower Turbo technology. With an output of 275 kW (374 hp) and a maximum torque of 500 Nm, it has an extremely sporty driving performance. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.4 seconds. The M340d xDrive comes with a 6-cylinder diesel engine and impresses with an output of 250 kW (340 hp) and a maximum torque of 700 Nm. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.6 seconds.
M sport differential.
The M sport differential optimises traction and driving stability when changing lanes or accelerating out of a bend, when taking bends at high speeds or on different road surfaces. Traction is optimised with the help of an electronically operated device that reduces the difference in revolution speed between the rear wheels.
8-speed Steptronic Sport transmission.
The 8-speed Steptronic Sport transmission offers incredibly sporty gear changes. Whether automatic or manual using gearshift paddles or gear lever – for comfortable coasting or incredibly dynamic driving. In SPORT mode and with the gear lever in the left-hand S/M position, the gear shifts are configured for the best performance.
M Sport brake.
The M Sport brake has four-piston fixed callipers at the front and single-piston floating callipers at the rear in blue with the M designation and features large brake discs to ensure an outstanding braking performance.
Variable sport steering.
The Variable sport steering with Servotronic creates a direct and agile steering response and ensures that less physical effort is required to turn the wheel. It reacts to the angle of the steering wheel with varying steering ratios. This improves handling when driving more dynamically and reduces the effort needed to steer when parking and turning.
Adaptive M suspension.
The 10 millimetre lowered Adaptive M suspension can be electrically adjusted at any time to suit the road and driving conditions. Drivers can also adjust the suspension characteristics via the Driving Experience Control to enable their preferred driving style at the time – from comfortable to extremely athletic with markedly agile handling.
Mild hybrid technology.
Mild hybrid technology is used to recover braking energy and supports the combustion engine during acceleration with electric power. This reduces fuel consumption and emissions while giving you a dynamic advantage. The mild hybrid technology also makes the Automatic Start/Stop function much faster and much more comfortable. Currently available for BMW M340d xDrive Sedan.
M Aerodynamic package.
The M Aerodynamic package with M-specific front apron, rear apron and side skirts in body colour and a diffuser insert in Dark Shadow metallic conveys pure dynamics and sportiness. The components not only sharpen the appearance, but also optimize the aerodynamic properties of the vehicle.

The M Leather steering wheel including multifunction buttons, an M badge and an integrated driver-side airbag is featured in three-spoke design. With a steering wheel rim in leather 'Walknappa' Black with black stitching and contoured thumb rests, it provides a direct, athletic steering experience.
