BMW Group Malaysia reinforces commitment to the Future of Mobility, delivering Sheer Driving Pleasure through Technology-Openness and the Power of Choice.
The premium automaker doubles down on their resolve to deliver exceptional performance and sustainability for Malaysian customers, while reinforcing Malaysia's role in BMW’s broader vision for sustainable mobility across the Southeast Asian region.
Kuala Lumpur, 20th November 2024 – As part of the premium automaker’s global vision of offering cutting-edge technology with a diverse range of drivetrain systems, the BMW Group reinforces Malaysia as a key market in driving the Future of Mobility, allowing customers to choose the Premium Ownership Experience that best suits their needs.
With over 8,700 vehicles delivered across the BMW and MINI brands as of Q3 2024, including more than 1,600 fully-electric models, making up over 19% of total deliveries, BMW Group Malaysia continues to retain its position as the country’s leading premium electric vehicle provider.
A key factor in this achievement is BMW Group Malaysia’s commitment to leading with Technology Openness, an approach that prioritises offering internal combustion engine, plug-in hybrid and electric vehicles to give customers the freedom to choose the technology that best suits their lifestyle, reflecting its dedication to Sheer Driving Pleasure across all vehicle types.
Benjamin Nagel, Managing Director of BMW Group Malaysia said, “Our Power of Choice philosophy defines the approach of the BMW Group to innovation in Malaysia. With every new, premium vehicle we introduce locally, our focus remains on giving our customers access to advanced technologies and the best in performance, design, and sustainability. Whether choosing electric innovation or high-performance combustion, we stay true to our promise: Sheer Driving Pleasure for every customer, with the Power of Choice to decide what drives them.”
In 2024, BMW Group Malaysia introduced several new vehicles in the premium segment including the BMW iX2, the BMW i5 M60, variants of the BMW 520i as well as the all-new MINI Family, demonstrating the premium automaker’s commitment to diverse drive technologies and a forward-thinking approach to innovation.
In moving the needle forward for the progressive adoption of electric vehicles, BMW Group Malaysia has made over 2,020 charging facilities available in its network to its customers so far, through strategic partnerships with various EV charging providers in Malaysia. Over 100 BMW i and MINI charging facilities are also available at most authorised dealerships, as well as partnering venues across the country, with more to come as part of the strategic infrastructure expansion plan set for the future.
Additionally, the premium automaker’s involvement with their vast portfolio of Electric Vehicles in high-profile events and collaborations – such as with Malaysia Airlines, the World Chinese Entrepreneurs Convention (WCEC) 2024, and the Maybank Championship 2024 – has enabled them to highlight the future of premium electric mobility across key influential industries.
Championing an innovation-lead future.
Globally, the BMW Group has also experienced remarkable growth in its electric vehicle segment despite a challenging market environment. Between January and September 2024, the company saw a 19.1% increase in sales of fully-electric vehicles (BEVs), with over 300,000 units delivered to customers worldwide.
On a wider level, BMW Group Malaysia’s performance and investment into its key partnerships reflects the Group’s stance in navigating a complex market landscape with a long-term, technology-open approach, ensuring stability without risking short-term overhauls.
Jean-Philippe Parain, Senior Vice President Sales Region in Asia-Pacific, Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa from the BMW Group said, “At BMW, we are guided by a legacy of Exceptional Dynamics, Innovative Technologies, Unmistakable Design, and Supreme Driving Comfort. These pillars make up the Soul of the BMW brand, and define what our customers can expect with every BMW we produce. As we transition into the future of mobility, we remain true to these values—bringing our heritage, our passion, and our drive for innovation into the electric age.”
Highlighting the BMW Group's focus on luxury, Parain also shared, “Our commitment to luxury, exemplified by models like the BMW 7 Series and BMW X7, is a testament to over 100 years of confidence, exclusivity, and elegance. This legacy of resilience and excellence has carried us through challenging times, reinforcing that BMW’s commitment to premium experiences goes hand in hand with our commitment to sustainable innovation, and we are proud to see this legacy reflected here in Malaysia.”
Parain also outline the strategic role of Malaysia as the BMW Group accelerates its efforts towards sustainable initiatives in the region. He said, “Each advancement we make is supported by a collaborative ecosystem here in Malaysia, as we continue to build upon the partnerships and infrastructure necessary to accelerate the adoption of future mobility solutions, establishing Malaysia as a leader in Southeast Asia’s automotive transformation.”
